A Visit from Gerry and Connie

It was wonderful to visit and fellowship with Gerry and Connie, even if it was for a short time.  We were able to show them the beautiful house the Lord has provided for us and  our church building.

Who Did It?

Mother always knew who it was that did the rearranging.  I guess it was the guilty look I had on my face.  Kari took over the job when the angels came to our house.  Ah, memories!!

Family Memories for my sisters

It makes me think of Mother when I put these out each Christmas.  I found the red candles for the little angels wrapped in tissure paper labeled in Mother's writing with a rubber band(elastic) around it. It brought tears to my eyes and a lump in my throat.

Allison, Bryn and Caden so enjoyed all the beautiful snow for Christmas.  Even Sammie enjoyed a good frolic in the snow...even after getting locked in the garage.

This was our Christmas Prayer Meeting on Wednesday .  We invited the church to the parsonage for an open house /prayer meeting. There were almost 40 people and we had a wonderful time of fellowship.

It's beginning to look alot like Christmas...

We have just finished the Thanksgiving weekend. What a joy it was to spend Thanksgiving Day with one of our church families! We concluded Sunday with the viewing of the film "The Secrets of Jonathan Sperry" at Calvary Baptist Church in Barron. It is a film worth seeing. It has a powerful message for old and young alike

First Big Storm of the Season

   Well, we got our first big snowstorm since we arrived inWisconsin.  There is a big drift in front of the garage and another big drift on the front deck.  We had no reason to venture out today, so the Christmas tree continues to be decorated.  We also cancelled our Prayer Meeting  for tonight.  Although, now this evening the wind has died down quite a bit. 
   On Friday night there is to be Ladies Christmas Fellowship and Baby Shower.  Hopefully, the roads will all be plowed and the wind will go to sleep.
   We will just have to get used to "winter in the country."

Steve and Cathy stopped to see us.  They attended our church and shared dinner with us.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Yah, we found a good deal!

Michael's had their punches on sale...Kari had paper and glue...and I had directions from Gail.  At first...I wasn't sure this was a good idea...but then it all came together!  Even Alisa wanted to make one...she wants to put a bell inside.   Kari says we can make them all different sizes...say the size of...beachballs for decorations for all sorts of things...which made us laugh uncontrollably.  We made six...in two hours.  Hmmm...is that fast?

We Won!

A quick trip to Rockford for some dr. appointments made an early Thanksgiving dinner possible.   The food was delicious but the time around the table was so special.   We have so much to be thankful for. The table centerpiece was a Thanksgiving Tree.  The grandkids had been writing the things for which they were thankful for several days.  They were very practical - floors, tv, beds,dog, grammy, grampy.  What a blessing!!!

My Fall View

A recent Fall view out my home study reminding me of the beauty of God's handiwork and His marvelous grace.  Our God is a great God!

Yes!   He doesn't know it...but he is making some cookies for Grampy...this week...Thursday! Shhh..don't tell him yet!

An apple a day...

keeps the doctor away? Not in our case. We spent the early morning at the chiropractor in Bloomer, WI. Those long hours of wrapping skids in Rockford for 9 years has taken its toll on the ol' back . Oops! I guess maybe I have the wrong doctor. Anyway, we know the Lord has some lessons for us to learn, but we don't know what they are just yet. Romans 8:28 still rings true and God is in control. PTL!!!

church ministry

It was hard to say goodbye to Kari and the kids. We had such a great time showing them the countryside and our church and the families. We were able to visit some member's homes and the kids loved all the animals.
We also were able to minister to our neighbors as we went to the visitation for little Wren, the 2 1/2 year old who died from a severe brain injury when she fell off a slide. As we viewed her little body, we both thought "Safe in the arms of Jesus."
This weekend we were able to assist our church members, Jim and Martha, with a retreat for families with disabled children. They did a fantastic job of organizing the event that went from Friday at 5pm til Saturday at 3pm. We were able to help with music and moral support.
We had a snow storm on Friday but most everyone was able to get to the camp. There were several from church that came to the retreat to help in the kitchen and with the children's ministries. It was a blessing to get to know our folks and their children.

A thought shared with me from a brother in Christ...

We have no right to have preconceived notions as to what God is fitting us for. Wherever He puts us, our one great aim is to pour out a whole-hearted devotion to Him in that particular work. Oswald Chambers
