A Special Messaage to My Grandchildren

Happy Valentines Day to Allison, Bryn, Caden, Emily, Alec, Avery, Ashlynn, Alisa & Teddy!

If you look very closely, you will see a heart shape of ice that I found in the yard yesterday.  Isn't that amazing?  Grampy and I send our love to each of you (not icy cold but warm and loving).

Grammy was sick last week and this was extrent of my cardmaking efforts.  We love each one of you and take time to remember the fun times when you have come to the Northwoods to visit and the times we have had visiting you.We know your  moms and dads love you, Grampy and I love you but the Lord Jesus loves you more than anyone.  Here is a reminder that Grandma Great Carlson unsed to send to your moms , Kari and Mari, and dad, Sean.  "And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.  Ephesians 4:32

Fellowship with Special Friends

A week ago Friday we went over to Pine Island to visit some "OLD" friends.  We met Grant and Margaret over 30 years ago so that does qualify us for the "old" classification. 

We had breakfast at what used to be the variety store.

These antlers are mounted on the garage/shed at Friese's home in the country.  This is the old dairy farm where Margaret grew up.  The antlers are from a an outfit that bought farmland along the hiway going to Rochester.  They were going to raise elk for profit but some disease shut the whole project down.  Grant was on the city council when all this took place and he was able to get this impressive rack.

The newest memeber of their family is Taffy.  She really is a cute dog, but it does not give us the bug to get one for ourselves.

A Trip Back to your Childhood in Pine Island

This is for K, M, and S.  The old homeplace looks pretty much the same.

The house next door looks pretty nice. The Callahans own it now and rent out two apartments.

The clock tower is the same but new street lights are  really neat. They are all through town on the main street.

The Rainbow has the same name but a new look, new menu and new hours - closed on Monday and no breakfast. We were there in the morning, so it was still closed.

This is the old Variety store on the corner that became a pizza place and is now owned by a family that serves food all day long as well as pizza.

They don't let the old farmers come in a sit for hours and drink coffee and shove the tables together.  It is a nice place for families to eat.  The breakfast was GREAT!!
