Mother Would Be Happy

The picture proves it - the sisters have white hair, not BLUE!!  We don't need the color job.

We took everyone to the "Norske Nook."  There is the Norwegian flag to prove it. I'm pretty sure Mother stopped at the Norske Nook on her drive to the cabin from St Paul.

We got to celebrate Teddy's birthday, again.  The lefse wraps were outstanding.  I think we can get them all to visit again if we go to Norske Nook for lunch (Paul says not for breakfast).

What Did We Do????

We were invited to the "Last Chance Farm" on Memorial Day.  Darlene enjoyed showing our grand kids the cows.  They asked some very good questions and got quite an education about raising and milkiing cows.

Ted (Mr. Mechanic) was interested in the farm equipment.

We enjoyed Wisconsin grown steaks on the grill.  The most amazing thing was that Bob, the farmer, was from out West and knew some of the same people that Paul knows and the churches where Paul's Dad pastored.  It is a small world.
We celebrated Teddy Wayne III's 9th Birthday.  His request was chocolate fudge brownie ice cream cake. YUM!!

We sat around the table and TALKED and listened.

Kari has a new craft - ruffley scarves.  She made one for her Mom and one for her Auntie.  It looked pretty cute on Uncle, too.

Was My Sister Really Here to Visit?

I have to look at the pictures to prove that my sister really came to Hillsdale.  It seems like a dream now.
Gail and Paul drove from the Twin Cites on Sunday afternoon .  Paul preached at our church in the evening service and we got to sing together again.

We visited many places, but we had to start at Susie's in Barron for breakfast.

We were smiling as we said goodbye, but there was an empty feeling after they left.  Praise God for the great time of fellowship we had!

Singspiration of a Lifetime

Paul and Gail came out from New Brunswick for an old fashioned singspiration at Berean Baptist Church in the Twin Cities.  Ted and Kari and the grandkids were able to go with us.  Ashlynn, Alisa and Teddy had never seen anything like that before. What a blessing to share that experience with them!

We were able to once again sing together with Paul.  "No Other Friend" came from our hearts.  It was like we sang together yesterday instead of at least 12 or 13 years ago.

The church honored Paul and Gail for their years of faithfulness in the ministry - 50 years of preaching, 30 of that in Canada. They also took an offering for them.  We were some of the last to leave the church that night - so many friends we hadn't seen for many years.  The rejoicing and fellowship was great.  I just can't imagine what it will be like "When We All Get to Heaven".

The Rockford Kids Came!!

Ted is the happy driver.  He tries to stick to his record time from Rockford to Hillsdale.

Kari is the happy knitter.  That's what she did to make the trip go faster.

These are the happy grandchildren who took the pills so they would sleep on the way.  They are not sleepy now!!

It is so much fun having them come for a visit.  The beds were ready, the frig and freezer were full, and the garden was waiting for some happy helpers.  Well, that never happened because either it rained or we were  just too busy for any kind of work.

First Weiner Roast of the Season

We had a family from church over for a weiner roast.  It was kind of chilly so the fire felt really good.  Of course, the boys enjoyed the sticks in the fire, but the best was SMORES.

I took a trip to Michigan with Kim.  We always seem to have something to talk about.  She tells me I remind her of her Mother.

Jack was really into his smore.  It was a good thing mom carries wipes in her purse. We get to have fun with "replaccement grandkids" every once in a while.  Grampy T took the kids all over in the wagon behind his mower.

Pastor's and Wives Fellowship

We entertained the pastors and their wives from the Northwest Wisconsin  Baptist Churches. Dwight got the grill going early so all the meat would be ready when the folks arrived.

It was a beautiful evening but got a little cool as the sun set.

We had a good time of food, fun and fellowship.  I guess there had not been a gathering in Hillsdale for 13 or 14 years.   We had a good turnout.  I think the preachers wanted to see what was going on in Hillsdale.

"The Birds Up In the Treetops Sing Their Song"

As I watch the birds that gather at our feeders, I am thrilled and amazed at our Creator God.  The other day I started singing the bird song the way Mari used to sing it (at the top of her lungs in the car) when she was a little girl.  "The bwerdies in the tweetops hing theiw hong, the angels chant the chorus AULL DAY LONG,  the tholwers in the garden blend theiw hue , so washington, washington pwaise him too."  (The washington was added by cousin Andy to everyone delight!!)
Oh, the cute funny things you remember to pass on to the grandkids!
