The Time Went Too Fast

Brad took the train over to Red Wing so he could drive the family back home.  They went through the Upper Peninsula for a change of scenery.  It took them 12 hours.  We were so glad that they endured the 12 hours drive.  It was well worth it. Thanks for coming!!!

Every day was filled with fun

Hot dogs roasted at the fire pit and fireworks to celebrate the 40 year old's birthday filled the Friday evening hours.  In fact we stayed out so late that we could hardly find our way back to the house.  Where is the moon when you need it???

The garden was the center of attention for everyone.  The kids loved pulling carrots, onions, beets, digging potatoes, and picking beans.  Cade had a great way of getting the weeds and leaf tops to the compost pile.  That little sled came in handy.

We all picked enough beans to do a couple of canners full.  They were also able to take an ice cream pail full home with them

















The kids washed a bunch of carrots and we processed them in the canner, too.

Our first big event of the visit was our trip up to Lake Nebagamon and Duluth.  The kids kept themselves entertained in the car with headphones and  a "Tom and Jerry" dvd.  They had to turn the player off so they could enjoy the northwoods scenery.  Mari opened her window to smell the forest and the moss as we drove into the cabin.  We visited with the owners  that we had not seen for about 40 years.  Oh, my that makes me feel old.

   We had to go to the DQ in town.  We brought a picnic lunch with us and then enjoyed the treats from the DQ.  It looks just the same with an outside deck on the lake side.

A new addition to our family!

Avery Noel joined Sean, Becky, Emily, and Alec on August 15, 2010, at 5:35 am.  Another little grandbaby to love!

A Visit From Friends

Gene came for the weekend.  We enjoyed his "El Paso Beans" once again and some great Texas brisket along with the bounty of our garden.  We have kept in touch with Gene some 40+ years.  He sang in our churhc services and blessed out hearts. 

   Roy came for a visit on Monday.  He brought a huge picture album and we laughed over alot of those pictures from long ago.  We fellowshiped for hours over good old Tim Horton's coffee and Swedish pastries from the Lindstrom bakery.  Mother used to stop there on her journies back and forth to the cabin. Friends are such a blessing
   Now we are having fun with the grandkids!!  They are here for a few days.  The pictures are to come later.

Busy Weekend

The wedding was lovely and the setting beautiful.  Anna from our church was married to Phil at her grandparents home on the river.  There were violins and beautiful landscaping complete with a carved eagle and a bear and her cubs.  The day was hot and sunny but the beauty of the setting took over.  We enjoyed  a good old Wisconsin pig roast and connected with friends from long ago.

Happy 40th Birthday, Dear Mari

It was 40 years ago this morning at 9:30 that Marit Mae made her appearance.  She was such a good baby because she was entertained by her sister and her cousin.  She has kept us in stitches ever since.

Mom and her girls.  They are both 40 now! We are eagerly awaiting the visit of Mari and the kids.  We are hoping the cousins will come see us, too!
