Let Me Call You Sweetheart

This was our first Sweetheart Banquet in Hillsdale.  Jim and Martha did the planning and did a great job.  There were about 48 people there.  We had it  at Camp Chetek in the small chapel building.  We had a lot of laughs. Dwight and Martha sang a song for Mabel and Elton , Martha sang "I'm in the Mood for Love" Alfalfa style from the Little Rascals. You will notice my verse board written Kari style.  They used the verse for a game.  It was really neat. This was done in the newlywed style.  The wife had to write down the fruit of the Spirit that best characterizes her husband and vice versa.  Then the spouse was asked what did your spouse say about you.  The ones who agreed both times won a prize.  There were four couples and three of them were winners.

This pictures shows a young man from the past.  Jeff Werth and his wife were there. Jeff's wife is the sister of one of our members.  It was good to see him after all these years.

We have had new babies in our church.  This couple is looking forward to their first in July.  Congratulations Toni and Travis.Dennis and Debbie have known Jim and Martha for many years, since Camp Chetek counseling days. They always have interesting stories to share .

Happy Belated Birthday

I can't believe that Sean is 33 years.  I'm sorry I didn't post it yesterday, but I have to say that we DID send him his card early.  Now that may be a first!  We hope he had a GREAT day.

A Refeshing Day

Monday we enjoyed our first Pastor's and Wives Retreat in Wisconsin.  We went to Milltown where Marlon Mielke is the pastor.  It is interesting that he was at Adrian, MN after Gary Uit de Flesch.  We saw lots of OLD friends.  The Prices were there, Larry Gross, Dan Whitehead.  Some of these we have not seen in decades.  Wally Olsen was the speaker and he spoke on the Pastor's Heart.  We did not stay overnight because Dwight had a meeting the next day.  The drive was a little less than an hour.  We were able to sing in the evening session along with Dan Whitehead.  It was a blessing to hear him sing again.  I especailly enjoyed the testimony and prayer time with the ladies.  What a blessing!  Of course, I forgot to take my camera with.  A lot of folks looked the same but with no hair or gray/white hair. (no hair on the men, not the gals)

It Was a Busy Thursday

My Thursdays start with piano lessons.  Today I only had one because one student was sick.  I was able to extend the lesson I had because the student did not practice much this week.  Oh well, such is the case of a teenager.                                                                                                                                                 The next thing on the agenda is Ladies Bible Study.  I have renamed it, in my mind,  instead of Mission Circle.  We have a small group but I have enjoyed using Nell Collins Topical Bible Verses.  We do the study together with the aid of  a write-on board.  I'm not sure if the gals got anything out of it but I sure did.  The study was on SURRENDER.  Boy, was that convicting!  We had to travel 30 minutes to Martha's house so it was 4:45pm before I got home.  I was able to minister to two ladies with cancer.  One was just diagnosed with lymphoma and the other has had her fourth round of chemo. The word surrender takes on a whole new meaning when thinking of yielding, submitting voluntarily to the authority of another.  I can't help but sing in my heart "I Surrender All."                                                                                                                     Being busy is what it is all about.  I'm glad I can be busy in the Lord's work.
