Down Memory Lane with my Sister

 My sister Priscilla from Meridian, Idaho was able to come out for a visit August 4-11.  She visited our cousin Marilyn and her friend, Jenny in the Twin Cities and then spent  about five days with us in Hillsdale.

 

The long awaited visit from Priscilla took us to our very favorite place, Lake Nebagamon. As we were driving down the hill  to the cabin, Cilla stopped talking and, I said, "Are you crying?" the answer was "YES!"

Cilla's Best Friend growing up at the cabin in the summer was Becky Seidler.  It has been decades since they saw each other.  The fellowship was short but sweet.  The childhood memories came pouring out as they laughed and reminisced

The cabin has been upgraded and improved, but they kept the unique charm from the Carlson era.

                        They still had a chair and the pad with little red horses on it our Mother made for it years ago. Remember that, Gail?


This is the addition to the back - another bedroom.  The beautiful quilt on the bed was made by Merrilee.

I have to say that our trip to the Lake and then up to Duluth  was very draining emotionally.  We spent so much of our growing up years  in the summers "up north", and the memories are so precious.

Cilla had hoped to see the diamonds sparkling on the Lake.  It was a misty cloudy day and very foggy in Duluth.  You can't see the lighthouse from where Cilla was standing.  We didn't mind the fog because that was a big part of our "Up North" memories.

Summer 2015

 The weather has been great for the flowers.  We water everyday and feed every week.

                                       We really enjoy the beauty of our Great Creator God.

Home again, home again jiggety jigg.

Thank you,  Kari dear, for posting the pictures of my fabulous trip to Michigan.  I did make it home but did a lot of sleeping on the way back.  In fact the friends I rode with called to check on me this morning.  I guess I didn't talk alot and they thought maybe I was sick.  I enjoyed the quiet!  Not that I did not enjoy all the "Ya Ya" and activity.  I guess I am showing my age.  Sigh!  The next time I go to Michigan my sweetheart goes with me.

Trip to Michigan to see the kids 2015

 A 14 hour trip over the UP to Lower Michigan to see the children and grand-children.  The girls picked me up and we stopped at Tim Horton's for a coffee!

 First part of the trip was hosted by the Tackeberry fam.  The grands wanted to take me to Blaze Pizza.

 We drove up to Bronner's Christmas Store in Frankenmuth.

 Sunday...playing for Brad and Mari for the morning service.

 Sunday dinner with Stilles and Tackeberrys to celebrate Allison's birthday.

 Lots of conversation...good food...and coffee to go with birthday cake by Aunt Kari.

 17 sparkler candles...

 Monday visit with Sean and Becky and grands...lunch...pool...presents...supper...

 "I love you, Grammy!"

 Lots of noise...lots of hugs...lots of fun!

Summer 2015

 A visit with Gerry and Connie!

Mari walked around snapping pictures of our flowers.

The garden is producing nicely.  We were able to send a wack of beans and a nice picking of raspberries back with the girls.  We, also, spent time weeding and hoeing in the garden.  Many hands make light work,  It was FUN!!!!

God is always good...

even in the scary times that require a life-flight to Eau Claire!  The mode of transportation is the helicopter in the upper lefthand corner of the picture.  Someone was right behind me when i was trying to snap the picture. :)

Saturday...July 26...Dwight experienced severe pain.  He was air lifted to Eau Claire to the cath lab and a stent was put in. He had immediate relief from the angina he had been experiencing.  God certainly was in control.
Sunday...July 27...the bloodwork came back revealing a significant heart attack.

 Dwight came home on Monday...July 28 and welcomed  Kari and Mari. It was such a blessing to see them.  Thank you to our son-in-loves for making it possible for the girls to come.

 They drove over the top of the UP to come visit...and brought a taste of Michigan...

 sweet cherries, blueberries, smoked white fish, and pasties!

 Enjoying conversation and coffee...with lots of laughter!  It is true..."A merry heart doeth good...like a medicine!"

 Ummm...this was Tuesday...July 29.

 July 30...we loaded up and took a drive up to Duluth.  If anything can make Dwight relax, it is a trip to one of our favorite places in God's Creation.

 The doctor didn't order it, but we sure enjoyed it!

Mari stayed dry...Kari...on the other hand almost got more than the bottom of her capris wet!  She went to stand on a rock and it was slimy!  It was touch and go there for a second...AND...we laughed!

The sunsets...and sunrises...have been beautiful the last couple days!  More reminders of God's sovereign control in the life of His children.
